I spent a while studying the sdnlist.pdf this morning, then found a link on treasury.gov where you can search the database for names with fuzzy spelling.
Try this: Sanctions List Fuzzy Search Tool:
Perused a few names, Foundation, Clinton, Banco, etc. and found a few things but it wasn't enough.
Then found they do a press release every time they add somebody to the list and perused a few of those press releases. Which are more informative/explanatory as to the reason for sanctioning a particular entity, and the date.
Then found an RSS feed for these press releases and subscribed to it. So next time somebody is sanctioned I'll be notified and go look at the press release.
