I witnessed something so magical at my house today with Mother Nature. Thought I would share it with you. Not often we get good news stories.
Most of you know I live on a farm and I have a good size duck pond maybe 30 feet from my front door, All day long while I'm on here I can look right out my window and watch Mother Nature do her thing. After 5 years of being here I have gotten kind of used to the ebb n flow of the seasons here and what wildlife comes around at what times. The spring birds have begun to come back in the last week or so. We have the Sand hill Cranes and many different kinds of Herons.
It used to be just one or two Blue Herons, but lately a few more have been fishing in the pond. As you can see below they are not small birds.

This morning there were a couple here early. Later on I noticed one seemed very intent on something and it was making like a growling sound I have never heard before. I thought it was a big fish that had its attention so I went outside to see what it was pulling at. To my surprise it was actually another bird that was completely submerged. I never say it until it started pulling it up. It had it by the bill pulling it up so it could breath and them managed to get it free from whatever it was stuck in or on or away from something pulling it down, though I don't know what that would have been. I would be aware of something big enough to pull a bird that size all the way down and under the surface. I watch that pond pretty closely.
So we have a happy ending, the saver flew away as soon as the other was up and safe and then that one flew to the back of the property after it got dry enough to make it that far.
I was ready to jump in and help, but didn't need to, they took care of their own. Was really something to witness and not something you see every day :)

@Loxie It was wonderful. I was so surprised to actually see it was pulling a bird up and not just a tiny bird but a juvenile of its own kind all with just its beaks. Was like having a National Geographic moment!
What a wonderful Happy Ending Story!!! Unbelievable!!!
